Miami Beach: Could a Hyatt Hotel Be Coming to South Beach?

Hersha paid $95 million for the 263-room hotel and its adjacent beachfront which in its former life was known as the art deco hotel, Cadillac Hotel.The full details of the purchase are <a href="http://www.snl.com/irweblinkx/file.aspx?IID=4019891&FID=12061647">here</a> but Hersha does plan on building an additional 93-room all-suite oceanfront tower as well as more meeting space and a parking structure. There's so much hotel buzz in South Beach lately, with new construction and rebrandings on the way, is it any wonder that even the classic little Deco properties are deciding to spruce themselves up? The latest to announce a multimillion dollar renovation? The Savoy.

The 75-suite hotel has new owners and, along with the new look, new management as well. Don't look now, but Coral Hospitality--the company lucky enough to scoop up Gansevoort ~~South~~ Miami Beach--will be taking the reigns here at the southern end of the beach. We've also learned that Coral is now managing another little South Beach gem, The Angler's Boutique Resort.

Were not sure if JWoww or The Situation have hit up South Beach yet, but we bet theyd be pleased to hear this slice of restaurant newsVix at the <a href=<a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Hotel+Victor/local/6">Hotel Victor</a> has ditched its Indian-influenced menu and gone Italian. According to <a href="http://miami.eater.com/archives/2010/01/07/mambo-italiano.php">Eater Miami</a>, Vix introduced a new Italian menu last week, but so far the only reaction theyve heard are that some folks werent too happy about the change. While the old menu featured tandoori sauces and naan bread, it wasnt full-on Indianone Yelper described it as that quasi Mediterranean/Asia/local SoBe fusion that seems to only work in certain restaurants.

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/6929/clevelandertop.jpg" class="top"> The iconic <A href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Clevelander+Hotel/local/164">Clevelander Hotel</a> ("The Cleve," if you will) in South Beach has just emerged from a multi-million dollar renovation, debuting this weekend with 60 spruced-up rooms and "Rockstar" Suites, revamped bars and public spaces, a brand new Rooftop Terrace and Sun Deck, and a new indoor nightlife venue called 1020 Music Boxx. The newly-restyled rooms look fly: they now have Egyptian Cotton bedding, black-out curtains and noise-reducing wall systems (these are nice in Miami), free WiFi, HD TV's and rain showers. The room decor "features deep-blue abstract designs and artwork of underwater scenes" that complement its ocean views or South Beach views. Miami: A Sneak Peak at The Betsy's New Guestrooms

We managed to score some images of the new and improved, super-white guestrooms at The Betsy (formerly the Betsy Ross) on South Beach's Ocean Drive, which will premier this fall when the hotel reopens after its extreme makeover.

The Betsy's new look incorporates "contemporary tropical colonial" designs, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, plantation style shutters and white lacquered furniture and desks next to big white poster beds.
