Washington: Angella Reid Says Bye-Bye Ritz Carlton, Hello White House

This week, history was made again when the White House hired its first-ever female Chief Usher, Angella Reid.
OK, fine, not quite as ground-breaking as Obama's inauguration. But still! One small step...yada yada. Reid will leave her post as general manager of the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City to take over the coveted position, which entails housekeeping duties like property inventory, state dinners, and Inauguration Day house moves. That last one's gotta be a doozy—moving the president isn't exactly your standard U-Haul by-the-hour operation!
Two decades of work for the Ritz Carlton brand (at properties in Miami, New York, D.C., and Rocky Hill, CT) should have prepared

Marina Del Rey: The Ritz Carlton's Missing Rembrandt Turns Up In A Church

Well, someone must have been paying attention when we sent out a plea yesterday to help the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey get their Rembrandt etching back.
The tiny portrait (it only measured 11" x 6"!) was finally recovered Monday evening—in the pastor's office of an Episcopal Church! What is it with scandalous pastors this week? Someone reportedly saw the missing artwork at the church and alerted the authorities. Though, to be fair, Father Mike Cooper hasn't been arrested, nor have detectives figured out exactly how the sketch traveled twenty-odd miles from the hotel into his office. Maybe it just needed some fresh air.

So how exactly does a 350-year-old lithograph just vanish? Well, that's kinda what police are trying to figure out. In the words of the LA County Sheriff's Department:

"When the curator that was attending to the art exhibit turned back to the exhibit, he noticed immediately that this individual drawing...was gone."

But leave it to the new Ritz-Carlton Charlotte to make even that sound luxe.

In fact, their L3 shopping package — “Laptops, Lounging and Libations” — makes us think we’ve been doing something seriously wrong. Designed for Black Friday cyber shoppers, the package includes an extended one-night stay and a private special online shopping lounge, on the 15th floor, that offers free Internet, hand and wrist massages, holiday cocktails and champagne, and light snacks to last from 12:01 a.m.
