Sunny Isles Beach: Hey Sister, Solé Sister: Solé East Has a Sibling in SoFla

The Season has not yet arrived in Montauk, so we imagine that things are pretty quiet over at Solé East and sister prop Solé East Beach. But down in SoFla? The Season is in full swing, baby, and whaddayknow, the Solés have another sibling—Solé On The Ocean.
Info on the boutique hotel in Sunny Isles is kind of scant--in fact, we had never heard of it until we were leafing through one of those luxury-lifestyle vanity magazines that proliferate in these parts.

Montauk: Music Sounds Better in Montauk Thanks To Solé East

We hear Montauk has been jumpin' this summer (much to some longtimers' dismay), and after seeing pictures of the Bing Summer Music Series at Solé East, we sure as hell wish we'd been out there every weekend.
Call us fussy but we're not really muddy music festival types. We prefer to wear flip flops over Wellies, and we'd like to kick said flip flops off as we lounge on a big cushion and gaze at Pete Yorn as he strums his guitar in an intimate show like this one.
Sadly, we missed his performance at Solé East on July 4th weekend, as well as Rufus Wainwright and Jenny & Johnny (below).

Montauk: Montauk's Panoramic View Resort Spruces Up its Killer View

Nope, neither have we. And truth be told, we're not too hot on the idea of sharing a beach house with a Jitney-full of summer Hamptonites. Which is why we love Montauk, and why word that a longtime area motel has been renovated is music to our sunburned ears. Why, hello there, Panoramic View Resort.
What you're looking at here is panoramic view from one of the Panoramic View studios—the resort is a mix of beach homes (residences you can buy) and beach units for rent. It's located near the Hither Hills park, a short trek out of town, not far from Montauk mainstay, <a

We know it's Passover and Easter and all that, but onto more pressing matters: Booking summer vacations at the beach.
So, what's happening hotel-wise at New York-region beaches?
Andre Balazs's Sunset Beach Hotel opens for the season on Shelter Island on May 14. Weekend rates start at $420 a night, and Mid Week rates from $225 a night. Just remember that "weekend" means Thursday through Sunday. And like most beach properties, Sunset Beach requires a three-night minimum for holiday weekends.

Where do you go once you've made a name for yourself putting hotels in previously dubious areas or buildings and making them the hippest spots in Manhattan? Why, it's obvious: The Hamptons. Or in the case of Sean MacPherson, he of The Bowery, The Jane, and The Maritime Hotel fame, you head to Montauk.
That's where our favorite J.Crew modeling, Gossip Girl-cameo-ing hotelier just bought his latest property, The Crow's Nest Restaurant and Inn. (A word of warning before you click on the website—prepare for the sounds of seagulls and breaking waves.)
