Though she was impressed with the sheer size and design of the place 201 rooms done up in a building that has a Spanish Colonial revival design, with its 20,000-square-foot spa with 17 treatment rooms, salon, fitness center, and yoga and Pilates studio

Boasting an extensive list of super upscale details like outdoor topiary gardens, hand-painted ceilings in the ballroom and Library and a curator-assembled art collection, the hotel is for the affluent traveler who, somehow, has tons of dough to blow right now. And if you don't have tons of money to spend and you're stressed cause you just spent it anyway, go get a massage or something at the two-level, 20,000-square-foot spa. We're talking 17 treatment

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/1425/montagebhconstrux908.jpg" class="imgborder">Work on <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Montage+Beverly+Hills/ian/269818/">The Montage Beverly Hills</a> is coming along fairly well and we just thought you might enjoy a Peach Pit After Dark-type of construction shot.This is the side of the hotel that will be facing Canon Drive and what you are seeing is the underground parking entrance. But to the left is actually another section of the building with rooms. We just couldn't capture that bit with our flash-less iPhone.We actually shot this picture from the upstairs of Mastro's Steakhouse. And we realized that when the hotel is completed, there will be a lot of voyeuristic action going on. Hotel guests can peer in on steak eaters and their ladies of the night and vice versa.

Next time you're visiting a Montage hotel--like the Montage Beverly Hills that should be opening up in November--we want you to pay special attention to how the staff treat you. Because according to a weekend interview in the NY Times with Montage CEO Alan J. Fuerstman, his staff should have superpower-like skills in keeping guests happy.

According to Fuerstman, there are a whole range of training steps taken to make sure those staff are going to serve you at the highest level possible, and it even includes "Wow" training.

Driving through Beverly Hills last week, we were at a stoplight and noticed that the upcoming Montage Beverly Hills has unveiled a bit of its exterior. Looking pretty good!

The hotel is on schedule for a late Fall 2008 opening. The website is up but there are no guestroom shots yet. However, we did learn there will be a two signature restaurants, a flower shop, a barber shop and a 20,000-sq.ft. bi-level spa included in some of the hotel's amenities and services.
