Are Bookshelves the Latest Hotel Craze?

As we've been poking around new hotels that have opened recently, we are noticing a trend--Bookshelves. Hotels are trying to not only appeal to your nightowl tastes with their fancy celeb chef restaurants and their dark mysterious lounges but also to your inner bookworm.
Some examples of bookshelves in new hotels?
· Cooper Square: We've been eagerly anticipating this NYC hotel and while the 70s-inspired decor got panned, no one seemed to mind the bookshelves. That's a good thing because there are some bookshelves in the guestrooms as well.
· SLS Hotel: In a city more likely to tote around screenplays rather than books, the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles has peppered its public spaces with books

Washington: The Best Hotels in DC to Celebrate Election Night

Say what you will about Washington, D.C.’s image (you know the drill: too many overachieving government drones, not enough girls and guys who just wanna have fun). But make no mistake about it: Nobody parties quite like Washington when it comes to an election night. And considering the enchanting nature of this election in particular, tonight should--by all counts--be epic.

As they did during the debates, D.C. hotels are hosting scores of election night parties. We round up the best hotels to get your election groove on.

New York: The Five Best Hotels for the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

It's that time of the year again--The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. And the annual tradition on HotelChatter has been to round up the best hotels with views of the parade. We've come up with a new batch this year but just in case, you can peruse our previous selections here.
As we were writing this, we found that a lot of hotels in Manhattan along the parade route have availability and most were asking for reasonable prices (considering it's Manhattan during the Macys parade.) However, the rates may change as Thanksgiving gets closer so remember, the early bird totally gets the best part of the stuffing here.

HotelChatter's Guide To Toiletries :: All The Rest That's Fit To Put On Your Skin

Now that we have round up the fabulous Hotel Toiletries in the big hotels chains and in some boutique hotel chains, we are now dropping our toiletry findings for a bunch of random hotels that we have come across.
We had some trouble figuring out how to organize these hotels so we started off by location and then went from there. It's not a perfect or complete list but it's something to build on.
Thanks so much to all of you commenters who wrote in your toiletry sightings! Keep 'em coming.

HotelChatter's Guide to Toiletries :: Some Boutique Players

We continue our obsession with Hotel Toiletries to bring forth some of the products used in the more popular boutique hotel chains. These products are always a little bit more upscale than the toiletries you might find at a big brand hotel chain and that makes visiting these hip hotels all the more exciting. (We can't help it, we're such hotel geeks.)
Just remember, this is a working list of toiletries and we'll do our best to keep it updated. Help us out if you want!
