Two New Viceroy Hotels on Track for 2009

Moving forward with their aggressive <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/9/23/14733/4870/hotels/Kor_Partners_With_Abu_Dhabi_Firm_To_Launch_Aggressive_Global_Expansion">international expansion plan</a>, Kor has announced this week that two of their newest properties, Viceroy Anguilla and Viceroy Miami (not to be confused with <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Viceroy%20South%20Beach">Viceroy South Beach</a>), are on track for 2009 openings. Debuting in February '09, the Viceroy Miami will occupy one of <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/6/26/14123/1363/hotels/Make_Way_for_Miami_Vice_We_Mean_Miami_Viceroy_Hotels">three towers</a> in the ICON Brickell development and will feature "rich tones and organic patterns with a tropical Asian scheme." One & Only also snapped up the Best Atlantic resort category as well. Not quite an Amy Winehouse stash of awards but a respectable Britney Spears MTV Music Awards showing perhaps. Last night was the Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards and our bro <a href="http://www.jaunted.com">Jaunted</a> did an excellent job twittering the whole awards show. Vancouver: Loden Vancouver Will Finally Open October 18th

Loden Vancouver is Kor Hotels' first Canadian venture and is set to make its grand debut on October 18th. A year late. Yeah, there's been some drama-dramz here. The hotel was originally supposed to open in Fall 2007, and it looked to be nearing completion but missed its opening date.

Then it was supposed to open in March 2008 and had rates listed on its website and everything -- but then no.

But now: rejoice! It's almost ready to go! And Voya Restaurant -- headed up by highly-acclaimed chef Marc-Andre Choquette -- will be opening up as well.

There's a ton of new things happening with Kor Hotels this week.

First, an Abu Dhabi company bought a 50 percent stake in the company allowing Kor to expand their presence overseas opening hotels in Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

And back in the states, The Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills is getting a new look from its designer Kelly Wearstler to be completed sometime in early 2009. We initially heard this was happening from a dedicated HotelChatter reader but now we have an official statement from the designer herself after the jump.
