The discussion was called "The Future of Lifestyle and Business," and we were totally psyched to geek out and gawk at the J-Man and I-Nasty. And, more importantly, we were ready and waiting to hear about what's up next for the industry from two of the most prominent and influential hoteliers in the biz. Instead, we mostly listened to Schrager discuss his life, his past and his personal future in business. Alright, so it was a little bit different than what we'd expected -- but still pretty fascinating.

What a crazy last two days! The biggest hotel conference of the year just wrapped up yesterday afternoon at the Waldorf=Astoria after two days full of guest speakers, informative panels, excellent networking opportunities, and numerous cocktail parties. Over 2,500 attendees were there to witness the hotel madness, including us.

Loews Hotel CEO Laments Loss of Customer Service

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/tisch_blog.jpg" class="imgborder">Jonathan Tisch is the chairman and CEO of <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/loews%20hotels">Loews Hotels</a> an 18-hotel chain who has recently blogged about the "Lost Art of Customer Service: When Chocolates on the Pillow Aren't Enough" on the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonathan-tisch/the-lost-art-of-customer-_b_54335.html">Huffington Post blog.</a> Tisch also wrote a book on the same topic with a similar title, Chocolates on the Pillow Arent Enough: Reinventing the Customer Experience. Tisch spends most of his post, pointing out positive examples of customer service--Commerce Bank for having extended hours, In-N-Out for a secret menu, and Build-A-Bear for creating a memorable experience--rather than knocking all the crappy treatment out there.  Yet he doesn't say too much about his own hotels, just this:<blockquote>As someone who grew up in the hotel
