Studio Gaia has done a ton of boutique hotel interiors before (they are a fave of the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/thompson hotels">Thompson Hotels</a> group and <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/w hotels">W Hotels</a>) and now they are bringing sex appeal to the Holy Land. Judging from the renderings on their website, they are doing an outdoor-meets-indoor look for the lobby/social area with lots of neutral colors but also a good amount of blues and metallics, especially in the hotel's restaurant space. Herzliya: Ritz-Carlton Coming to the Holy Land

It’s hard to believe that the Ritz-Carlton, with 73 properties scattered around the globe, does not yet have a presence in Israel, but this week, the company announced plans to open its first hotel there.

The new property will be located in a coastal suburb just north of Tel Aviv called Herzliya.

According to Ritz-Carlton CEO, Simon F. Cooper, it’s about time. “For a number of years,” he said in a statement, “the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has recognized the strategic potential of extending our brand to Israel. Having spent several years in Israel earlier in my career as a hotelier, I know the country very well.”

According to the New York Times' <a href="http://intransit.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/04/new-luxury-hotel-opens-in-jerusalem/">"In Transit" blog</a>, the big J is set to welcome Mamilla Hotel later this month, a 194-room hotspot inside a building designed by Moshe Safdie who also, apparently, designed Columbus Center in NYC. As a result, hotels in the town have been overflowing, forcing even those under renovation to open specifically for the holidays. More than 40 years after the Beatles were banned from playing in Israel, Sir Paul McCartney has landed in Tel-Aviv and checked into the Dan Hotel and will be preparing for an historic performance tonight.

The Dan, if you'll recall, was featured on this humble little website when one of our readers was so kind as to review it for us. To recap: the property is posh, it's located in the city's center and it's steps from the beach.
