Portland: The Nines Wows Us to the Nines

Yesterday we gave you a video tour of the room, now we break down our stay.
Location, Location, Location We were literally in the center of the city. The building itself--the old Meier & Frank Building--has so much history it has it's own Wikipedia entry and it shares the building with Macy's. You can't take the elevator to the shoe floor, though, you have to go down to the street level and walk around the corner. We were walking distance from all the Portland hotspots and could jump on the MAX free city rail from the corner. City views were

Hotels Are Searching for Sexy Toiletry Dispensers

Hey there! Remember when we created a guide to Hotel Toiletries? And we listed all of our favorite hotel toiletries, then we asked you to drop in your best hotel toiletry sightings? You do? Ok well, we are really regretting those stories right now.
While we love snatching up the mini-toiletry bottles to take home with us (especially if the products are from Fresh or Kiehl's), we recently learned of something that we didn't even think of once in our toiletry buzz--the amount of waste those cute little bottles create. D'oh.
So it's no wonder that hotels are trying to reduce the amount of waste they produce by using toiletry dispensers. For one, they can call themselves "green" hotels

HotelChatter's Guide To Toiletries :: All The Rest That's Fit To Put On Your Skin

It's not a perfect or complete list but it's something to build on.
Thanks so much to all of you commenters who wrote in your toiletry sightings! Keep 'em coming.

HotelChatter OpenThread :: What Hotel Amenities Do You Consider Totally Useless?

The Bowery Hotel, New York. What amenities would you keep in here?
You all know how much we love our hotel toiletries, and you've tolerated our consistent gushing about free WiFi and state-of-the-art TVs (among other things). But there are a few hotel amenities we have always thought were just a little outdated or entirely useless.
For instance, we stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria one time and found a mini-fax machine sitting on the in-room desk. This was in the year 2007. Good one.
So, aside from the occasional fax machine (seriously, what was that?), we've put together a bunch of other hotel amenities that we think could probably die. These products are always a little bit more upscale than the toiletries you might find at a big brand hotel chain and that makes visiting these hip hotels all the more exciting. (We can't help it, we're such hotel geeks.)
Just remember, this is a working list of toiletries and we'll do our best to keep it updated. Help us out if you want!
