Stockholm: No More Birch Beatings At Grand Hotel Stockholm's New Spa

OK so normally we wouldn’t be so excited by the idea of a “Nordic spa”. In our heads, Scandi beauty treatments scream naked saunas, self-flagellation with birch sticks and lots of snow. But we’re making an exception for the Grand Hotel in Stockholm which opened a subtly different “Nordic-inspired spa”, Raison d’Etre, yesterday.
Yes, they have the birch – harvested from local forests, don’t you know – but they do far more exciting stuff than beat you with it. The Be Rested package is a massage ad “hot birch pack” to make you sleep, while the Be Balanced treatment claims to “gently realign” your bones through the power of, um, mung bean pillows.
They’re pretty pricey

Palm Springs: The New Spa at The Parker Palm Springs Believes in a Good Stiff Drink

It turns out there's more to do there than just lay by the pool and sip on cocktails. The hotel has just finished renovating their Palm Springs Yacht Club spa (PSYC) and it's not exactly what you would expect. Take a look at the spa's mission statement:

We believe in the American country club experience: mixed doubles, a long steam, and a stiff cocktail.

And indeed the new spa space makes access to a cocktail just as important as access to a heavy-handed masseuse.
The spa has created a new lounge with dark leather chairs, coffee tables and lit by

Rich Teens Get Everything, Even Custom Spa Treatments at The Four Seasons

We could forget about the economic crisis and just worry about vampires and texting and when our parents were taking us on the next fancy vacation to buy our affection. OK, so if we were going to be teens, we’d have to be the Gossip Girl variety, able to throw debauched parties in our fabulous uptown pads, or jet off to exotic resorts at any second.
And if we were, like, to do that? We would totally book ourselves in for one of the new teen treatments offered by certain Four Seasons spas. Four years after they started building (and no doubt a while after they had serious doubts whether building a hotel was the right thing to do at the moment) the Sugar Ridge is ready to open on December 1.
They're aiming for luxury and affordability, often a tricky combination, and the luxury includes the Sugar Club Spa – the first Aveda spa on Antigua.
