We've seen plenty of weird and wonderful hotel soaps in our time, but nothing quite as cool as this: the rock soap that greeted us as we checked into La Posada De Santa Fe Resort last night.
There was a normal, pebble-shaped soap in the soap dish - so far, so normal - but then on the shelf by the basin we spied this lump of rock. Was it a pumice stone to grate your feet? An ornament? A random piece of rock? No, it was indeed a bar of soap shaped like a rock. ]]>
If you smell something sweet coming from the kitchen of the Fairmont Pittsburgh's Habitat, it may not be edible. The hotel restaurant has started cooking up its own soap for guests.
The housemade signature soaps are all natural, with such ingredients as tallow (rendered beef fat), water, coconut oil, blended vegetable and olive oil, lye and natural aromatic oils. The result is soap bars in scents like oatmeal honey, Earl Grey bergamot, lemongrass pear ginger, rosemary mint and lavender chamomile. ]]>
We just wrote about Hotels Doing Good yesterday, but you know the saying: When it rains, it pours goodwill! Today brings us word of another good cause, one that begins in your hotel bathroom. Specifically, with your soap. Perhaps you pay that bar of soap no mind, or maybe you (cough, cough) try to use just one bar and pilfer the other for your own bathroom. Regardless, if you leave a used bar of soap behind, it gets thrown out by housekeeping once you check out.
