Brooklyn: Two Aloft Hotels to Screen Sneak Peek of 'Portlandia' Season 2

London: The May Fair Boasts the Biggest Private Theater in London

It was incredible to think that just a minute's walk away, the masses were wreaking such havoc while here, tucked a little back from Piccadilly, all was calm and proper as afternoon tea progressed. If things had gotten any worse, we would probably have found our way down into The May Fair's private theater, the largest private theater in London actually. New York: Writers Take Over The Crosby Street Hotel Screening Room

One of our favorite parts of The Crosby Street Hotel is the screening room and little bar downstairs, especially when the events held there are open to the public. We also love books, so we're psyched about the new program launching at the hotel soon: Under The Influence: Writers On Film.

Kicking off on Monday, January 24 with Paul Auster, the series invites some of the country's best writers to introduce a film that has influenced his or her work. After the screening, they'll discuss their work and the movie with screenwriter Michael Maren, who put the series together--and, yes, there will be cocktails. (These are literary types, after all.)

The Sunday Night Film Club has been up and running at The Crosby Street Hotel for awhile now, and as luck would have it, Halloween falls on a Sunday this year. You know what that means: a nightmare on Crosby Street!

The Film Club's selection for next Sunday, October 31 is Saw 3D: The Final Chapter--and apparently the accompany dinner or bar plate offering will have a "Halloween twist."
