Miami Beach: Thompson Hotels Return to South Beach by Snapping Up the Hotel Victor

When Thompson Hotels peaced out of the Sagamore Hotel in South Beach way back when, they got busy expanding their hotel collection elsewhere--New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago and even London. But now Jason Pomeranc and co. are strapping on their roller blades and coasting along Ocean Drive once again.

Thompson Hotels has announced this morning that they have snapped up the Hotel Victor, which was last a Hyatt, and are rebranding the place Thompson Ocean Drive. Straight from the presser:

Santa Barbara: Hyatt Opens Its First Hotel in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is getting Hyattized, though too bad not in time to capitalize on the royal couple fever that hit the local hotel scene earlier this month. The 80-year-old Hotel Mar Monte has been transformed into the city's first Hyatt, the Hyatt Santa Barbara.

As part of its new persona, the oceanfront hotel has been getting renovations since February. The hotel has redone 92 of its 171 rooms, lobby, and pool and deck areas.

Del Mar: Hotel Indigo to Open its Second California Location in Del Mar

The Hotel Indigo must be digging the California weather. The chain is looking to open its second Golden State location in Del Mar; its first is in San Diego.

You can make a reservation at the new Hotel Indigo Del Mar starting January 3 on its website. The newly branded hotel, which is taking over the Best Western Stratford Inn, will make its grand debut on January 2.
