After everything we've been reading about Occupy Wall Street, we thought it might be good to hear from someone who actually lives or works there. And who better than Toni Hinterstoisser, GM of Andaz Wall Street—the only hotel actually located on Wall Street. Toni's been with the hotel since its opening in 2010, and is something of an expert on the hot button 'hood.

As we slowly inch towards summer, our minds have been turning to rooftop bars, especially the ones at all the new NYC hotels opening this year. But there's another outdoor space that's becoming popular: the garden or courtyard.

The Crosby Street Hotel has one, and Trump Soho and Eventi both promise big public plazas. But what's this strange little garden that sits in front of The James New York? (It's hard to see in this nighttime shot, but if you peer through that fence you can see tufts of grass!)

Often with hotels, location is everything. And in New York, the hottest areas for hotels right now are SoHo—The Crosby Street Hotel just opened there, and a Trump and Mondrian will open next year—and Midtown West, which has The Distrikt and The Strand opening soon. A little further south of those Midtown hotels is Fashion 26: A Wyndham Hotel, which promises to open this winter. Like most hotels, Fashion 26 lists nearby attractions on its website: the Museum of Sex, Madison Square Park, and Macy’s Herald Square. It also takes a big cue from its neighbor, the Fashion Institute of Technology.
