Miami: Everything Takes a Bit Longer in Miami, Including the Opening of Element

If there's one thing that Miami and hotel openings have in common it's that they both make you wait longer than you'd like. Especially when you need to get permits from City officials to open your doors.

Which is all to say: we're not surprised that Element Miami is still a few weeks away and not already open as we thought it might be by now.

The hotel's website is saying Opening February 16--but taking reservations from March 1. A rep for Element tells us it's safe to say it will be open in 'late February.' And the earliest night we could find a room is March 11, for $159 a night.

New York: An Unexpected Tryp To Wyndham Garden

Bad news if you were planning on staying at the new Tryp by Wyndham in time for Thanksgiving. The yet-to-be-finished hotel taped a sign to their door yesterday re-routing guests to the nearby Wyndham Garden Times Square South, which is less than ideal. Sure, you're still in Times Square. And the originally price will be honored (on average, Tryp's rooms go for about $100 less than Wyndham Garden's).

But if it's a brand new hotel with 'Mediterranean accents' you were looking for, you're going to be disappointed. The closest you'll come is by heading over to Eventi's Bar Basque—they sure have plenty of 'accents' to go around.

It had been a while since we'd heard from our fine friends across the East River. Was it technical difficulties with the taco truck that pushed back the Hotel Williamsburg's opening so far?

The river-facing hot spot has been making waves around the blogosphere for quite some time now, but mostly it's been the same stale factoids tossed around (rooftop bar, central location, uniforms by Brooklyn Industries).
