Theres lots to do in Murcia, like a baroque cathedral, pretty Cartagena nearby and 300 days of sunshine every year. The resort itself has a pool 24-hour fitness zone and a spa, and all of the 133 rooms have a balcony or terrace. While Newport Beach isn't exactly lacking on the hotel side of things, we're kind of excited about the opening of The Resort at Pelican Hill.

The resort is stuffed with jaw-dropping features. The sorts of things that seem just a little too extravagant during a recession, and yet we can't help but drool and yearn. Just keep the folks from AIG away from this place and it should be A-Ok.

You don't need to pony up the dough for a room at the expensive Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, Calif. to enjoy the beautiful coastal view and a sunset serenade from a Scottish bag piper at dusk.
