Hamburg: Mövenpick Converts a Water Tower in Hamburg

Earlier this year the Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg opened up inside a converted water tower in Sternschanzen Park, near the Hamburg fair grounds. Being a 1910 water tower means that the Hamburg Mövenpick doesn't exactly have the standard shape of a hotel, making it an interesting place to stay from the outside at least.

Inside, there are 226 rooms spread over 17 floors, which the hotel describes as "4-star plus" in quality. Rooms near the top of the tower have great views over the city. The restaurant is in an added two-storey glass building to the south of the main tower to provide room for up to 145 guests at one sitting; there's a large banquet room above

Hamburg: Eurail Hotel Stop: Hamburg's Hotel Terminus Near the Terminal

That makes it our pick for a convenient and not-budget-breaking Eurail stop in Hamburg. It's not too fancy, but it is literally less than two minutes' walk from the main Hamburg station, without being noisily right on top of it. It's also not far from the harbor and very convenient for the department stores and main downtown shopping area of Hamburg, which definitely comes recommended.

So while he Hotel Terminus is not fancy, it's very reasonable: prices for double rooms

Cubicle Dreamin' is a feature in which we ask the hotel mavens to take some time out of their busy work day, surf the Internet, and tell us what hotel they wish they could beam themselves to right that very second--all on the slave driving companies dime, of course. Oh, like these people aren't surfing aimlessly anyway--at least now their purposeless clicking will be cobbled together into useful hotel stories--we hope.
Buhl: Room with a Killer View: Schlosshotel Buhlerhoehe

We have to say this killer view from the Schlosshotel Buhlerhoehe with its view of the Rhine Valley is the best we have seen yet. This guest got lucky too, checking in just as the sun was setting. However, we are sure all the rooms at this hotel which is a palace atop a mountain in Germany's Black Forest, have equally stunning views. And if it's good enough for Beckham and the rest of England's World Cup team, then it's good enough for you.
Related Stories:
· BMetz's Photostream [Flickr]
· schlosshotel buhlerhoehe reviews [TripAdvisor]
