The average gas price in the United States has spiked to $4, which is just 11 cents short of the record high, CNN reported, and a huge crimp in your travel budget. Just when people start talking about how the economy is on the uptick, gas prices begin skyrocketing. Especially in the West Coast—California has the highest average gas price in the country at $3.85 a gallon, according to the LA Times.
