Cue the scramble to fill those hotel rooms! Most of the properties in Miami Beach are rolling out special Art Basel promotions, and today we take a look at two big hotels right next door to each other: the W South Beach and the Gansevoort South.

W South Beach
Still riding its “hot new property” buzz, the W South Beach is bound to host its fair share of art-world scenesters who want to be seen.
Miami Beach: STK at Gansevoort South Is Nowhere Near Finished

We hope so!
A while back we once wondered who would ever win the restaurant race of the summer in Miami--Mr. Chow at the W South Beach or STK at Gansevoort South. Well, Mr. Chow was clearly the winner but we thought that STK would have its stuff together "this fall".
Turns out we thought wrong.
A tipster snapped these shots of the STK space at the hotel and from the looks of it, we don't think it's going to be opening before 2009 is out. We're not sure what's taking so long with this space as we've been waiting for STK since

Maybe forever. Scene Advisor reports that the project has been "halted" before ground was even broken. They also said that construction was to begin in 2010 with an opening date of some time in 2012. But we think you will to wait even longer.
We checked in with the hotel's construction company, TAS DesignBuild, and Steve Fernandez said this about hotel's construction timeline:

Final opening date is not confirmed, as will commence with the start of the selling of the project.

Hmmm....According

We were at first annoyed and then amused and then annoyed again by the loud-talking group of revelers taking up 10 or more lounge chairs nearby. The group, mostly women, seemed to be visiting for their male ringleader’s birthday, and were discussing how everyone had fared after the previous night’s partying. (“Who woke up naked?” was asked without sarcasm.)
