I was shocked when I checked in because it was very expensive and I assumed it was a nice resort. It took about a half hour wait until I was able to check in because their computers are slow and outdated. The room was dirty, the carpet was worn out, the air conditioning unit didn't work

The hotel (and its web site for that matter) aren't going to win any awards from Wallpaper*, but renovations a few years ago spruced up some rooms. Caveat emptor, though, as one guest warns:

Great place to stay as long as you get a good room. Do Not stay in unit 8 which is in need of a few repairs. Apparently it is not one of the rooms that has been renovated yet. We asked to move after the first night because of its appearance and the constant trampling of feet in

Singer Island: Room with an Anti-View: Hilton Singer Island

You know the scene. You open the door to your brand new hotel room, run over to the window, open the blinds and bam, you are hit with the anti-view. Maybe you are looking down a dirty alley, witnessing a drug deal, staring at an air shaft in the face, or seeing a brick wall. Whatever you are viewing it is not extremely pleasurable. Help out your fellow hotel mavens by uploading your anti-views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us.
Marco Island: Insane Hotel Package: Marco Island Marriott's $175,000 'Getaway'

To commemorate the resort's recent $175 million renovation. But of course, you aren't just paying for a week's stay in the two-bedroom lanai suite (pictured above.) With this package you also get:

Unlimited food and beverage, private chartered jet into Marco Island Executive Airport, Mercedes convertible rental car, personal butler service, helicopter ride and private dive in Key Largo, private airboat ride in Florida Everglades, seven-course private dinner at chef's table, $5,000 Marco resort gift shop credit, $10,000 gift certificate to Naples 5th Ave/3rd

We stopped by for a drink after a walk on the beach and were treated like royalty despite a less than pleasant appearance (and not being hotel guests, which we told them). The staff--particularly in the lounge--was extremely friendly and helpful. Having drinks under a fan out by the pool was one of the highlights of the trip.

Related Stories:
· Watercolor Inn Reviews [TripAdvisor]
· Lesley S photostream [Flickr]
