If you are lucky enough to check in sans bus tour, you will be happiest. A friend of HotelChatter took off for Chile late last week and is reporting quite a hotel find. Five hours south of Santiago, is a surfer's boutique resort called La Joya del Mar. There are only three villas at the resort, and on-site restaurant, and plenty of Chilean wine.

The owner, Dayna Del Duca, is also a surfer, so who knows, maybe a couple surf lessons can get thrown into the rack rate.
