<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/standard_commonareashot.jpg" class="imgborder"> As we mentioned <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/9/5/91033/59791/hotels/Snapshot_Still_Bare_Standard_NYC_Hosts_Interview_Magazine_Party">this morning</a>, we had a chance to swing by the Interview Magazine party held at the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Standard+NYC/local/795">Standard NYC</a> in Manhattan's Meatpacking District last night. Now, just to be clear: the hotel is Not. Done. And it's not, like, close to done. No, no, no -- rather, in the spirit of fashion week, the party's theme was innovative: we'd call it "construction site chic." Seriously though, the party was on the construction site of the Standard -- but somehow, they managed to pull off a kickass soiree and we, in turn, managed to get through the whole thing without any stiletto catastrophes from the combination of plywood planks and cement floors.

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/standard_party_entrance.jpg" class="imgborder"> Last night, we hit up the the Interview magazine redesign launch <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/8/25/211149/551/hotels/The_Standard_NYC_Readies_for_Fashion_Week_Ticks_Off_Neighbors">party</a> hosted at <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Andre%20Balazs">Andre Balazs</a>'s hotly-anticipated <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Standard+NYC/local/795">Standard NYC</a>. While some folks were under the impression that the hotel was scrambling to speed up construction in order to be fully ready and presentable for the bash, it was not so: the party went down on the 18th floor of the building -- the entirety of which was still completely under construction. Just like the rest of the property. It was dramatic. It was weird. It was awesome. <![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/sunsetbeach_kitchen.jpg" class="imgborder"/> Sure, it was a long weekend, full of hurricanes and scandals and blue skies...and journos checking out the allegedly French-style digs on Shelter Island at Andre Balazs's <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Sunset+Beach+Hotel/local/342">Sunset Beach</a>. We're pleased to hear that the hotel's food is to die for -- a <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601088&sid=aCrkXIa.Izis&refer=muse">rave review</a> of the Sunset Beach menu recommends the bouillabaisse and the moule frites, two classic French dishes, bien sur.  The writer notes, "With a little help from the Frenchies at the next table, you could almost make believe you're in St. Tropez admiring the Mediterranean." Interestingly, the writer failed to mention the hotelier's <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/5/24/123630/542/hotels/Andre_Balazs_Dark_Secret_Wine">Reserve Sunset Beach Rose</a>. New York: The Standard NYC Readies for Fashion Week; Ticks Off Neighbors

What is this? Luxury hotel construction pissing off the neighbors? Why, it can't be!

Yet that's the word on the street from the New York Daily News. For New York's Fashion Week, Andre Balazs' unfinished Standard Hotel is hosting Interview magazine's redesign party and the overtime construction has the neighbors wishing workers would check out early.

Can't say we blame them! First the sounds of 7 a.m.-to-7 p.m. construction and then being subjected to the smell of model vomit? We'd be pretty teed off too.

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/1425/hotel_qtsold.jpg" class="imgborder">The boutique dorm room hotel QT has become Room Mate Grace.After we <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/4/24/164335/307/hotels/A_Semi_Regular_Update_on_the_Always_Busy_Andre_Balazs">reported</a> in May that <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Andre%20Balazs">Andre Balazs</a> sold his Hotel QT to Spanish hotel group Room Mate, the place sort of dropped off everyone's radar and we didn't hear much about it. But thanks to a heads up from <a href="http://www.concierge.com">Concierge.com</a> we visited the QT's old <a href="http://www.hotelqt.com">website</a> today and, lo and behold, the property has become Hotel Grace. "She" appears to be an actual woman, and all the marketing stuff sort of talks about the property as though she is, like, a person.
