New York: W's Downtown New York Hotel is Now Delayed Until May 4

Thought you could stay downtown at the new W New York come Super Bowl weekend? Oh sorry, think again.

The hotel has now pushed back its opening date--yet once again--to May 4, 2010.

Ugh. We're not sure what's happening here but we're starting to lose faith in this property. Back in June, it was announced that the hotel would open by December 1, 2009. Then that changed to February 4, 2010 and now, we're looking at May.

Guess that's means the BLT Grill is delayed as well. Perhaps W should just keep "Sometime in 2010" on their website instead.

She correctly guessed that the new hotel with the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2009/12/10/93810/531/hotels/Guess_the_Hotel_with_the_Killer_View_of_The_Empire_State_Building_">killer view</a> of the Empire State Building was <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Strand+NYC/local/1533">The Strand</a>.Earlier this week we attended a party at the hotels rooftop Top of The Strand bar, and we couldnt help but be impressed by the front-and-center view of the Empire State. This is one of the only rooftop bars in the city with a retractable roof and while it was closed during our visit, we can tell that this is going to be a sweet spot

Ah, Midtown Manhattan. What a strange and ever-changing beast. Now that one of 10 Hot NYC Hotel Openings—The Strand—is open, we thought it was time to check in on one of its neighbors a little further west. Last we checked, The Distrikt was aiming for a December 1st opening (with no reservations available until December 21st) but all was quiet in Distrikt land this week. Well, apart from the tweet someone sent us about a delay. Sure enough, over at the website, it now says, “Opening Early Winter 2010.”
