Paris: Let Them Eat Cake: A Marie Antoinette Weekend in Paris

We're used to 'romantic weekend' hotel packages and 'winter break' special deals, but Concorde Hotels in Paris is now offering a Marie Antoinette package.
Marie Antoinette was that 18th-century It girl who married the French King Louis XVI aged 14, spent the country's money on dresses and jewellery, ate too much, drank too much, partied too hard, and ended up not legless but headless when the French peasants revolted and guillotined the royal family. We can think of quite a few modern-day Marie-Antoinettes....no names mentioned.
So what does a Marie Antoinette hotel package consist of? Eating too much, drinking too much, spending too much on dresses and jewellery and, er, well, hopefully not the last part?

Noisy Hotels? Shut It

Unless you're paying by the hour, you get a hotel room so you can sleep, no? How irritating is it when you end up with your head stuffed under the pillow and your fingers stuffed in your ears, trying desperately not to hear the showering/TV-watching/copulating sounds from next door?
A recent survey by TripAdvisor put noisy hotel rooms a close second to dirty rooms on the list of irritations suffered by travellers. We don't mind a bit of dirt, myself. Give us quiet any day.

If you want to sell luxury hotel rooms, buy a hotel in Paris's so-called Golden Triangle, the area between the Champs Élysées and the river Seine. It's home to umpteen of the world's grandest, most luxurious, most ridiculous hotels.
The George V is the grandest, most luxurious and most ridiculous of the lot. Pronounced George Sank not George Vee. It's allegedly the most expensive hotel in the world, although there may be a couple in Moscow that pip it to the post.
