Bangkok: Bangkok's Luxury Hotel Wars Don't Seem to Be Affecting Guests, But Ugly Americans Are

Seems America isn't the world's only litigious society. There's Thailand, for example.
In Bangkok, the The Oriental has been slapped with a defamation lawsuit by the Thai Attorney General, following a libel claim from another hotel competitor, the lebua. Seems that an internal email memo sent by The Oriental's General Manager Kurt Wachtveitl last year to his hotel managers accused the lebua of poaching 26 staff members from yet another 5-star property The Peninsula Bangkok.
Oh the humanity! Can you imagine some employee actually wanting to work elsewhere, and perhaps for more money. But Wachtveitl's email, which has been reportedly sent to several other Bangkok hotel managers, was leaked to the public.

Bangkok : Dress Properly For Bangkok's Sky Bar at the Lebua

If you stay at Bangkok's Lebua at State Tower soon, you can get free drinks thrown in at their Sky Bar. They've been hitting the promotion trail with this package pretty heavily, so we thought we should investigate the Sky Bar a little more closely.

But as always, it's really a matter of opinion or who you should believe. One recent guest decided "The Sky Bar is awesome (and the drinks wonderful)" while another thought "The Sky Bar is pricey and guests have very little space to stand and none to sit" (although even this guest admitted that the view over Bangkok from the Sky Bar was great). But try this for a more balanced view:

The Sky Bar

Cook It Yourself Thailand BBQ

Foodies have got to head to Thailand soon for a couple of nice deals we've dug up. If you want to master Thai cooking yourself, then the Hua Hin Marriott Resort on the beach on the Gulf of Thailand has an interesting offer. Time your holiday to fit in a three-hour cooking session at lunchtime on Wednesday or Saturday and you'll start by touring the local market with the chef and finish chowing down on three dishes you've learnt to cook. And how nice, you even get an apron, recipe book and a pretty certificate to take away!
If it's more just the eating that interests you, then you can just stick to Bangkok and enjoy
