HotelChatter has been covering hotel wifi since the beginning, but as we cited in our 2009 annual hotel wifi report times they are a changin'.
The biggest change on the tech side is the growing popularity of the usb broadband card. As more and more people buy into these cards (and more and more GMs pray to the hotel gods they do) there are a growing number of digital nomads that no longer tap into a hotel WiFi network.
Instead, these nomads are in search of killer hotel lobbies to comfortably

New York: Why One Dude Loves The Smyth Hotel's Bathrooms

We often travel alone and spend the night in hotel rooms alone but on a recent trip to New York City, we managed to have a few travel buddies come along with us. Our mother stayed with us when we visited The Plaza (she loved the rooms but misses the old feel) and a dude very close to our hearts, who we'll call Mr. Z, stayed with us during our two nights at <a href="http://"http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Smyth+Tribeca/local/870">Smyth Hotel in Tribeca. Thanks to him, we learned what dudes look for in hotel bathrooms.

New York: Dream New York for $113 Through Quikbook's NYC Sale

Oooh. Quikbook launched another 72-hour hotel sale this morning (oh, we should mention they launched it first to their Twitter followers — so if you're not acclimated to the Twitterverse yet, perhaps this will help make a case) and we were mighty impressed with what we found for a couple of hotels in July.
First up: with this 72-hour sale, you'll get 25% off your rate (summer stays; late June through early September) if you book by Friday at 5:00 pm. Through that discount, we managed to find ourselves a room at the Dream Hotel in Midtown for $113 per night on July 5th. This is a hotel, mind you, that back

New York: The Greenwich Hotel Not Super Expensive for Tribeca Film Festival

Considering that Greenwich Hotel owner Bobby DeNiro is also the man behind the Tribeca Film Festival, we expected his hotel to be either sold-out or ridonkulously expensive, like the Kentucky Derby hotels.
To our genuine surprise, we found rooms on April 22nd, the start of the film festival for a mere $475 a night via the hotel's website. That was for a 325-sq.ft. courtyard room, one of the starting room categories. The Greenwich Room (395-sq.ft.) was going for $525. Sure, these aren't recession-friendly prices but they aren't as jacked up as they could be.
Looking for an even cheaper stay at the start of the festival? Over on Quikbook.com, Smyth was just a mere $177
