Bourbon Street, boozing, that whole thing. But then again, I went to New Orleans for <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2007/6/28/222843/813/travel/120-Hour+Cocktail+Party+Coming+to+New+Orleans">Tales of the Cocktail</a>, so shouldn't I be praising the proximity to drinks? The <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Hotel+Monteleone+New+Orleans/local/689">Hotel Monteleone</a> was ground zero for the event, and it was buzzing with cocktailians during my stay last week. But on the sauce or off, how are the rooms? Mine was quite nice, if a little worn around the edges.

New Orleans: Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar

If you're not a fan of the circus, then the bar at Hotel Monteleone might scare you away.

Appropriately named the Carousel Bar, the place features a circus motif and the round bar looks like a lit-up carousel sans mechanical horses.

A favorite of New Orleans locals, [the bar] is often filled with colorful local characters telling stories about Hotel Monteleone and our celebrated city.

If you're a fan of Carnivale then you will probably dig the place. But hit it up on Wednesday through Saturday nights when acclaimed pianist John Autin plays from 9pm til closing.

<![CDATA[<img align="right" src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/absinthe.jpg">The annual festival, <a href="http://www.talesofthecocktail.com/">Tales of the Cocktail,</a> will kick off in New Orleans tomorrow at 2 p.m. a the <a href="http://www.hotelmonteleone.com/index.html?PHPSESSID=f4fbbca7f4890bb7486d02a7d99e22b9">Hotel Monteleone</a> in the French Quarter.Here the official cocktail of the festival will be unveiled and over the next few days, more than 2,000 people are expected to roam about the city, attending cocktail parties, dining at fine restaurants and getting drunk.But if you're on the wagon or if you've promised yourself that the one time you tried absinthe in Prague would be your last, then be careful. New Orleans: New Orleans Still Drowning in Bad WiFi Service

<![CDATA[<img align="right" src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/images/icon_small_hell.gif">Nothing is more frustrating than an unfulfilled promise for free Wifi access. Sitting there with your laptop and dancing around your hotel room in desperate attempt for a signal, any signal. Such is the case in New Orleans which apparently has city-wide free wireless internet. But the signal is not to be found according to the manager of <a href="http://www.hotelmonteleone.com">Hotel Monteleone</a>, Andrea Morton: <blockquote>Everyone thinks the free service is working, somewhere. We're just not exactly sure where. </blockquote>The hotel used to offer free service but now charges a $10.00 fee; a fee which subsequently doesn't guarantee finding that elusive signal. The beautiful historic Hotel Monteleone suffered nine feet of water destruction and is still dealing with the aftermath.
