If you live in NorCal, you might be able to get away on the cheap. The Bay Bridge, which connects the East Bay to San Francisco and is part of Interstate 80, is closed until Tuesday, September 8. And because of that closure, two Kimpton Hotels are offering guests a special San Fran Bridge closure rate of $80. A tipster let us know about this deal:

"Approximately 270,000 people commute over that bridge per day" according to Wikipedia. Two Kimpton hotels, the Hotel Triton and Prescott Hotel, are offering a labor day promotion: "Can't Take I-80? But we got word that the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Times Square has two floors of eco-friendly rooms.
In these "green suites" are:

wastebaskets marked "recycling," energy-saving light bulbs in all fixtures, water-saving showerheads, and on-the-shower-wall containers filled with shampoo and conditioner, which has reduced the need for plastic bottles and the refuse of same. The individual suites also have their own thermostat controls, and Hilton Family of Hotel brand cards are left for guests who, in order to further preserve water, may check whether or not they want their towels are linen laundered that day.
