Having spent the last six months launching <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Missoni%20Hotels"><b>Hotel Missoni</b></a> in Edinburgh and announcing plans to open up branches in Oman, South Africa, Kuwait and Brazil, it announced last week that it would be taking over one of the Milan fashpack&#146;s old haunts: the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Chedi+Milan/local/524"><b>Chedi</b></a>, which is currently closed after a name change (to the Virtus) earlier this year failed to bring in the punters. <p>But this isn&#146;t for another Missoni (a fashion hotel in the fashion capital of the world? Perish the thought). They&#146;re going to turn it into a <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/radisson blu hotels"<b>Radisson Blu</b></a> &#150; their second Italian property juliab 2009-12-18T13:18:28-05:00 http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/6/4/11846/68928 <![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/3873/Santorini.jpg" class="imgborder"><p> <p>This weekend's UK Times published a list of what it thinks are the <a href="http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/travel/where_to_stay/article1869867.ece">coolest new hotels</a> across Europe. </p><p>We're not sure how much faith we can put on this list, since it does include the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/2/5/223248/4458/hotels/No_Paradise_at_Turkey_s_Adam_and_Eve_Hotel"><b>Adam and Eve</b></a> in Antalya, Turkey, home to the world's slowest and most stupid bar staff. It does, however, get a bit of credibility back by adding the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Chedi+Milan/local/524"><b>Chedi Milan</b></a>, which probably does warrant the label of one of Europe's coolest new hotels.</p><p>So we're thinking that perhaps the new-since-last-month <a href="http://www.mystique.gr/"><b>Mystique</b></a> on the paradise of Santorini, Greece, might also be okay:</p><blockquote><p>Its 18 villas are carved into the cliff face, each overlooking the caldera, and every one flat-screened and hi-fi'd. amandak 2007-06-04T09:11:18-05:00 http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/5/24/8738/38610 <![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/santa_tereza.jpg" class="imgborder"/><p>The <a href="http://www.designhotels.com/">Design Hotels</a> group--authors of the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/1/23/112710/007/hotels/Hotels_With_Top_Design">Design Hotels Yearbook</a>--have just signed up a bunch of new hotels to the group. Independent hotels that are "united by progressive design" can join the group, which has its headquarters in Berlin.</p><p>During this year, eight existing hotels will sign on to be official Design Hotels, and four newly opening hotels will also be part of the group. The <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Chedi+Milan/local/524"><b>Chedi Milan</b></a> (Indonesia meets Italy) and the <a href="http://www.designhotels.com/santateresa"><b>Santa Teresa Resort</b></a> (shown above) in Sicily joined up in March, and when London's new <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/3/20/3233/30894/hotels/Haymarket_Hotel_Coming_to_London_Next_Month"><b>Haymarket Hotel</b></a> opened up last April, it also got a guernsey as a Design Hotel.</p><p>Interesting "opening soon" hotels in the Design Hotels group include the <a href="http://www.designhotels.com/avalonhotel"><b>Avalon amandak 2007-05-24T09:15:18-05:00 http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2007/4/26/7111/08779 <![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/chedi_milan.jpg" class="imgborder"/><p>Milan seems like a good city to indulge in a luxury hotel, simply adding that to your massive credit card bill after you've been shopping there as well. So why not add another luxury hotel to the market with the recently opened <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Chedi+Milan/local/524"><b>The Chedi, Milan</b></a>. Other Chedi hotels can be found in Asia, including Phuket and in Indonesia, but this is the first one to open in Europe.
