It's blazing hot, you can wear less clothing and you can walk the streets all day long without having to get on the smelly subway trains (unless it's raining.) But our other favorite time of the year to visit NYC is around the holidays. You can blame us for watching Miracle on 34th Street or Home Alone 2: Lost in New York too many times but the Christmas season in New York is just magical. And the best place to taste some of that cinematic holiday joy is at Rockefeller Center. But apparently we underestimated the popularity of mechanical bull riding contests. Monday night's round of riding was well attended by bull aficionados hoping to buck their way into the championship on January 3. Next Monday, another slate of cowboys will vie for their shot at the final. The mechanical bull was rocking though it took a few drinks before anyone decided to hop on. One girl managed to stay on for 8 seconds, but she was using two hands instead of the regulation one hand. As for the food, things don't look good: if you're talking up your BBQ, shouldn't you have tons of food on opening night? Turns out, not so much. But don't despair you mechanical bull fans: You should be riding by July 11. Well, it must not be a joke because the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Rockefeller+Center+Hotel/local/523">Rockefeller Center Hotel</a> has gone and put up signage advertising the place. But don't rush over just yet--Johnny Utah's won't open until at least June 14. That's the scheduled date, but as always, we're skeptical. And with good reason. We've been waiting ages for sexy Italian restaurant Gemma to open at <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/The%20Bowery%20Hotel">The Bowery Hotel</a>.
