These stars and other dubious figures (Bugsy Siegel and Fatty Arbuckle) liked to hang out on the oceanfront veranda for martinis and jazz. This was when Santa Monica was a secluded and relatively unknown spot. Inside, the ambiance was a little cozier. Families playing chess, trendy-looking tourists sipping wine in the bar area, the soothing orchestral sounds of Pink Martini playing softly over the sound system. Founded in 1933, the Georgian combines art deco d&#233;cor with beachside cool.
