Portland's Jupiter Hotel really lets its guests have their run of the place, so much so that they are scribbling all over the walls and doors.

Okay, it's not as bad as it sounds; they are made of chalkboard. The 81 rooms have doors that are lined with chalkboard on both sides, and the hotel's two event spaces have floor-to-ceiling chalkboard walls.

Deep inside the Jupiter Hotel you will find a hidden indie boutique shopping spot--Ivy Studio.

Erika and Luke Smalley opened the space. Erika designed the purses, and Luke's apparel line, Oxford Slut is a shop mainstay.

The duo added in a pinch of graphic tees, rock posters, art and plenty of vintage records to round out the boutique.
