At the helm is long-time SoCal chef Jonathan Pflueger, who's back in San Diego after opening his own restaurant and wine bar in Newport Beach, CA. Currant promises to deliver local, organic and seasonal ingredients in that new American style that's so hot right now. The checkerboard-tiled floors, chandeliers and banquettes definitely give the space an edgy bistro feel--no turn-of-the-century Paris vibe here. On the menu, you'll find dishes like moules frites, duck confit, braised veal cheeks and white truffle risotto. You also can't go wrong with the charcuterie plate. The beer and wine selection

After a gut renovation, the old Pickwick Hotel in downtown San Diego has reopened as <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Sofia+Hotel/local/230">The Sofia Hotel</a>. It's not exactly a new property--the architectural details of the 1926 building are the same--but the 212 rooms are newly tricked out and accompanied by a 24-hour yoga studio and fitness center. Leg lifts after partying in the Gaslamp Quarter, anyone? Actually, that may not be too far off the mark, according to one of the few reviews we could find:<blockquote>But speaking of noise, here is the worst part: the WALLS ARE PAPER THIN! We could hear the neighbour's conversations, almost perfectly. When the lights by the bed (attached
