New York: Does The Pod Hotel Have Resident Graffiti Artists On The Roof?

And while we liked the room and all (yes it was tiny, and there was some noise from trash collection in the night, but it was spotless and all we needed), what we were most intrigued by was the roof terrace, hidden up a flight of stairs from the 14th floor. <p>It wasn&#146;t the astroturf that intrigued us, or the plants, or the views of the neighbors&#146; rooftops; no, it was the fact that the hotel seems to have a couple of resident graffiti artists. <p>By the looks of things, there&#146;s been someone called Tuse seeing to the

New York: The Pod Hotel Loves Modern Art and Free Museum Passes

But we're also fans of New York hotel deals, and the latest offer from the down-market chic Pod Hotel in Midtown is a beaut—at least if you're planning to visit the Museum of Modern Art while you're in town.

The Pod has an "Abstract in NYC" package through April 25 with room rates starting at $99 and two tickets to MoMA to see the blockbuster Abstract Expressionist New York exhibit. Proving that art is all about the cash these days, those free museum passes are worth $40.

Hotels can barely call themselves such without one, they're sprouting that fast and furious.
Alas, most charge exorbitant prices for the privilege of drinking a cocktail al fresco among the skyscrapers.

Sure, it's mere days away from the Fourth of July weekend, but that doesn't mean there aren't still hotel rooms to be had in New York City. This is the home of Lady Liberty, after all! We've earned the freedom to procrastinate on booking hotels and we still expect to find a good deal when we get around to it.
With that independent spirit in mind, we set off into the wilds of the Internets to see which NYC hotels would still take the <strike>lazy</strike> last-minute bookers among us, and here's what we found ...

New York: What $100 Will Get You in Manhattan This Summer

Let’s start with a New York analogy, shall we? Finding a hotel for $100 a night in Manhattan is like… trying to hail a taxi during rush hour in the rain. Elusive, but not impossible.
We picked a weekend – July 24–25 – and did some sleuthing to see what we could find for a Benjamin (and change). The highlights were off-the-radar rooftops and newfound Euro-backpacker friends; the lowlights were shared bathrooms and ghastly floral bedspreads.
