And we don't mean Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, either. We're talking, of course, about Art Basel Miami Beach.
The bustling art fair and all its satellite events, exhibitions and packed-to-the-rafters parties takes place December 1–4, although the fun begins a few days before that, with the glam gallerist gang getting into town right after Turkey Day weekend.
As always, hotels are a hot-bed of Basel activity. This isn't the definitive guide, as venues are still finalizing their event deets, but here's a sampling of what's happening. We'll have more info on Basel happenings soon--as well as a last-minute room-rate check for the late-to-the-party art fans among you.

We didn't think life could get much better than having such a service at our disposal. But then came word that the hotel was upgrading its poolside service. Three words: Mixologist on Wheels.
That's right, the hotel now has a roaming bartender who does the rounds of the pool deck twice a day Fridays through Sundays. Watch out for master mixologist Ramsey Pimentel at noon and 3 p.m. when he'll mix and muddle and shake and pour you your cocktail of choice.
Capirinhas are one of Pimentel's specialties and he even creates his own syrups, including a cleansing ginger and a Bird Thai

Miami: How to Stay at The 10 Best Hotels in Miami for Less (Big Hint: Go Offseason)

So there's only one way to do it--go in the offseason which is conveniently happening now.
We found totally doable rates for people with champagne tastes but limited budgets. And these are the deals you can get directly from the hotel. No Groupon, Private sale or Hotwire roulette needed.
However, what you will need is a little cash flow. The best hotels in Miami (HotelChatter approved, that is) aren't going to bottom out completely just because it's August and hurricane season is nearing. So

We weren't sure what to expect (werewolves? psychics?), but it turns out the full moon is a good excuse as any to enjoy drinking outside and tucking into fresh seafood. No belief in horoscopes required.
The parties are now in their second season in South Beach (and also take place at other Ritz-Carltons in South Florida), where the food and beverage and PR teams decided to take advantage of the DiLido Beach Club's beachfront location and views of the moonlit ocean by throwing monthly celebrations for hotel
