New York: TripAdvisor Tells Us What We Already Knew About Hotel Carter

We've been writing about the woes of doing NYC budget-style at this hotel for a few years now. From dead bodies under the bed to bedbugs, this place is pretty much a horror hotel. Thus, TripAdvisor has named it the dirtiest hotel in the U.S. for the third year in a row. Coming in second place? The Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls which was cited by travelers as having dirty pillowcases, spiderwebs and dried urine in the bathroom. Gag.
In other cleaner news today:
· MGM Mirage is moving forward with the biggest hotel-casino plan yet for Atlantic City. The MGM Grand Atlantic City will open in 2012.
·

The New York Post reports:

A chambermaid made a grisly discovery while cleaning a Times Square hotel room yesterday - the corpse of a young woman, bundled in black garbage bags and abandoned under the bed.
Police tentatively identified the woman as a 22-year-old tourist from Washington, D.C.
But how she met her death at the Hotel Carter on West 43rd Street - by murder or someone trying to hide the body after an accident or an overdose - remained a mystery.
Police said

New York: Bad Rate :: Filth and Bedbugs at Hotel Carter

Enjoy.]
When booking a hotel, the rate doesn't tell the whole story. What looks like a bargain could turn out to be hell on Earth. When the hotel is pegged as one of "the 10 dirtiest hotels in the U.S.," it's really time to steer clear. One guest said his television played the sound from one channel but showed the picture from another. A couple in Room 500 said they were surprised to discover that they did not have a closet. And a businesswoman from Ukraine on the 23rd
floor found that she liked her room better in the dark. "If the curtains close, light is off, it's not that bad," she said.

It is not all bad news:

The city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

New York: Times Square Budget Hotel Was On Fire

This morning the answer seems to be--a fire.
An early morning fire on the 12th floor sent hundreds of guests outside. As a result, 43rd Street became packed with luggage, and 20 fire trucks. Of course we still don't know the scope of the fire, the cause, nor how many guests were effected.

No injuries were reported, but fires are not exactly the best wake up calls.
Fires asid, doesn't sound like recent guests have been thrilled with the Carter:

The worst experience
