New York: Is This It For Hotel Pennsylvania? Skyscraper Gets The Go Ahead

Is that the death knell for the Hotel Pennsylvania we hear? Yes, we know, we've braced for this before, but this latest turn of events sounds to us like the end is nigh: the City Council has approved Vornado Realty Trust's plans for a 1,200-foot office tower for the site.
As The New York Observer reports, a Vornado spokesman says the building would be an "outstanding addition to New York's iconic skyline" but many New Yorkers disagree. The loudest opposition is coming from Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin, who worries about the new skyscraper stealing thunder from his own.

New York: If the Hotel Penn Goes, Where Will the Doggies Sleep?

Yes, we’ve heard this song before (you can catch up here and here), but the folks at Curbed wonder if this time they might actually mean it, since the proposed office tower that would replace the hotel has entered the public review process.
With the Westminster dog show right around the corner, our most pressing reaction to this news is: Where will all the doggies sleep if the Hotel Penn is pulled down? The hotel is the unofficial headquarters—and preferred toilet—for the show dogs and their people during Westminster—and a wonderful place to pooch-and-people watch

New York: Take Two of 'Top Model' Auditions Were Riot-Free at Hotel Penn

Lip gloss and stilettos flew all over the place when someone spied a smoking car on the street and started spreading buzz about bombs. Oy. Disaster. The auditions were called off and rescheduled due to the incident.
And finally, this Saturday, take two of the NYC 'Top Model' casting call was held at an equally-luxurious (read: not so much) NYC hotel, the Hotel Pennsylvania. The New York Times was there to describe the scene:

Once the women got inside the hotel, their bags
