We are always in search of a good cuppa, so we stopped at the Grand Del Mar for teatime to see whether you can get a decent cup in a warm-weather destination like San Diego.

Tea is typically served in the cozy library just off of the lobby, but our teatime companion wanted to sit at one of the several lobby tables overlooking the golf course. Although several parties came in for tea, we found out that the Grand Del Mar's high tea's high time is during holidays like Mother's Day and Christmas.

The Manchester Hyatt in San Diego is being boycotted by gay rights groups because its owner Doug Manchester gave $150,000 to Proposition 8, a California state measure to ban gay marriage.

While the Hyatt Corporate umbrella which just manages the hotel is not being targeted, boycotters (which include union leaders as the hotel is not unionized) are urging the public to avoid staying at the Manchester San Diego. And it won't be pretty.
