Oscar chillin' at Hotel Rouge in D.C.

Meet Oscar. He's a Golden Retriever from Portland, Oregon, and the canine answer to Paul Carr, the man who lived in hotels for three years.

We're not sure if Oscar is also writing a book about his experiences, but his hotel-bed and treat reactions are all documented in his owners' blog, The Great Kimpton Crawl of 2011. Yep, Oscar's a Kimpton man--mostly because they're one of the most famous and accommodating of the country's Pet-Friendly Hotels.

Kimpton Hotels just sent a "secret" email blast out to its loyalty club members, promising rooms from as little as $79 on weekends at 19 properties in 16 cities across the country. And while these excellent prices are non-refundable and prepaid, the brand promises that "in the event of unruly blizzards, no worriesyou may reschedule your weekend stay." Nice one. Tis the season... for holiday-themed hotel packages and discounts. There are many promotions dressed up as deals floating around right now, and it can take some effort for a hotel to make theirs really pop.

Kimpton Hotels, for one, is rolling out its Spark Your Spirit campaign at 51 properties in 23 cities--offering a range of perks from now until January 15. There are some typical Kimptonian touches on the menu of holiday extras but our favorite on the list is the Secret Social Upgrades. Mostly because it makes a Facebook or Twitter promotion a little more fun.
