Oh, and a helluva <a href="http://themarlinhotel.com/snaphot/vintage">cool history</a>. Back when, South Beach was Madonna's playground and the hotel was run by Island Outpost gent Chris Blackwell. The lounge, named for Blackwell, has been open since the spring. But now that the Marlin has a new <a href="http://themarlinhotel.com/">website</a>, we get to scope out the rooms. There are four different kinds of studios and, coming in December, a two bedroom suite with partial ocean view, two king beds, two bathrooms with rainfall showers

The forecast for 2012 in Miami? Hot as hell with a deluge of new and newly renovated hotels. In fact, there's been so much Miami Hotel Mambo-ing going on of late that we're getting dizzy. To help us all keep things straight, we created this Shortlist of Shiny New Hotels Coming to Miami.

We'll return to this in the coming months to give you updates on each hotel's progress--and, as always, if you have the scoop on these or any other new hotels in the works, please do share!

Miami Beach: Another Miami Hotel Gets Back In The Game, This Time The Marlin

Miami Beach: Marlin Hotel Still Has Rooms for Super Bowl Despite NFL Lawsuit

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/marlin_superbowl.jpg" class="imgborder"/>Having already accused two South Beach hotel of reneging on hotel rooms, the NFL has served a third hotel with a lawsuit today. <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Marlin+Hotel/ian/143408">The Marlin Hotel</a> allegedly failed to reserve 13 rooms for the NFL. They now join the South Beach Hotel and the Crest Hotel who, combined, allegedly backed out of providing the NFL with 54 room reservations.Interestingly enough, we called the Marlin Hotel reservations line and the hotel has two rooms open on February 4. Two one-bedroom suites are available for $450 a piece plus tax and there is no minimum-nights required. Miami Beach: Art Basel Party Wrap-Up: Rapper Noreaga Rocks the Budweiser Select Party

Art Basel 2006 is a thing of the past now, but we're still getting tips about the crazy parties that went down. As we told you, artist Steven Keene was featured at the Budweiser Select Porch Project party at the Marlin Hotel. Also on hand was the rapper Noreaga who dutifully posed holding some Budweiser Select bottles.

But lest we forget that Art Basel is actually about art, a great pic of the artist Steven Keene at work is after the jump.
