Will You Visit a 'Black Hole' Resort in 2012?

We know, shocking. But Iyer thinks this might be a trend:

[T]he future of travel, I’m reliably told, lies in “black-hole resorts,” which charge high prices precisely because you can’t get online in their rooms.

Not get online? That sounds too impossible of an idea to grasp as even the smallest hotel rooms like the ones at Tune or the closet-sized lodgings at The Jane in NYC come with TVs and WiFi. But maybe we are

London: We 'Slummed It' For A Peek Inside The Rough Luxe Hotel

There are lots of new hotels opening in London, but we shan't forget the golden oldies as there are still plenty around. So, the other night we 'slummed' it at the Rough Luxe Hotel, definitely one of most unique hotels in London.
The concept of the hotel is as its website describes “half rough, half luxury”. It’s certainly not in the best location although with all of the development in the area, and the new hotels opening close by including the eagerly awaited St Pancras and the Great Northern Hotel, we have a feeling that will change.

London: NYT 'Roughs It' at London's Rough Luxe

If you like your hotels with an oxymoronic twinge, London's Rough Luxe Hotel might be for you. The New York Times checked in to the buzzy boutique hotel for a review this weekend and, all things considered, seemed rather pleased with the property's unique flair.

If you'll recall, the hotel claims to be "half rough, half luxury," which translates into an "almost industrial" effect that's "like the interior of a guerrilla warehouse art gallery," explains the Times. Think distressed walls and salvaged furniture alongside posh linens and rainfall showerheads.
