But what struck us during the visit wasn't the designer condoms, or the use of curry paste (though the restaurant's tangy Pad Thai was awesome). It was the near-psychedelic effect produced by all the dark red marble lining the bathroom walls.
The patterned walls are such a sensory overload that they gave our camera's auto-focus a run for its money.

For a few days this week, New York was actually feeling pretty pleasant. Blue skies, cool breezes, and plenty of sunshine. But this morning's humidity is just a harbinger of the pit-stain-inducing, ninth-circle-of-hell-reminiscent city heat wave that will soon be upon us. Worry not, HotelChatter is here to help! Here are our top picks for refreshing room service treats:

· Above the LEED-certified Crosby Street Hotel in Soho is a rooftop garden lovingly tended to by head chef Anthony Paris (above). At the Empire Hotel near Lincoln Center, the holiday will be marked in the best possible way: with booze.
Halloween cocktails being served at the hotel include the Jack O’ Lantern, pictured above, which contains Jack Daniels, orange bitters, absinthe and sugar cubes. Other creepy cocktails include a Pumpkin Tini, Black Widow (Frangelico, sugar cane, steamed milk), Skeletons in Your Closet (Gin, lemon, simple syrup, lingonberries and prosecco) and The Witching Hour (Sobieski Vanilla, Crème de cacao White, Baileys, Kahlua and simple syrup).

New York: What's On The Sunset Menu at 60 Thompson's Kittichai?

We love delicious food and an even tastier cocktail, but you know what we hate? Waiting for tables. So we're probably not going to hit up the latest 'it' restaurant until it's no longer jammed with every single stylish hipster in town. At 60 Thompson's luxe-Thai restaurant Kittichai though, we found a solution to this dilemma: the Sunset Menu.
Served between 3—5:30 p.m. daily, this between-meals tasting session is our new favorite way to eat. When we dropped by the hotel last week around 4 p.m., we were the only diners in the restaurant for about 30–40 minutes. We loved the quiet—especially in the feng shui surroundings—but if you need a scene, you should look elsewhere.
