Happy Friday! You know what we like to talk about on Fridays at HotelChatter? Hotel Sex! So, just to get your all geared up for the weekend, we thought we'd share with you this semi-NSFW matchbook that we picked up this week from the restaurant of New York's Maritime Hotel.

Too bad we grabbed it during the hot pot party at the restaurant Matsuri and not at the Marc Jacobs x V Magazine x Belvedere Vodka shindig that took place in the hotel's Hiro ballroom last week—we have it on good authority that Lady Gaga's red lace outfit at that is just as semi-NSFW as the pictures on this matchbook.

We love hotels, and we love food. Thank heavens that a good hotel usually comes with a great restaurant, and if we're lucky, a talented chef to boot. This is the case at The Maritime Hotel in New York, which dilutes its mild nautical theme with a lower-level Japanese restaurant, Matsuri.

For the restaurant's 6th anniversary, the menu will include traditional hot pot favorites of chef Tadashi Ono (who also made Matsuri's ceramic crockery by hand), and last night the celebration kicked off with a party to reveal the restaurant's new cookbook: "Japanese Hot Pots: Comforting One-Pot Meals," authored by Ono and Harris Salat.

If you’ve stayed at the Maritime Hotel in New York, you probably noticed the blocks of yellow spines on the suite’s bookshelves—full sets of National Geographic magazines. But they’re not just there to look pretty, or because hotelier Eric Goode snagged them on the cheap from some yard sale. Oh no, there’s actually a much more earnest reason behind the reading material.

Goode’s mother was a conservationist and when he was growing up she had every issue of National Geographic ever printed. Goode is also a turtle nut, and has long had a thing for nature. His ’80s nightclub, Area, even had natural history exhibits featuring live bats and sharks.
