Las Vegas: Last-Minute Presidents Day Hotels: Las Vegas

A holiday weekend in Vegas? It's surprisingly cheap, particularly because Vegas hotels are still, generally, dying for visitors. As always, it's to the booking engine we go.

For Saturday night, we found the Bellagio up for grabs at $243, the <a href=http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Venetian/local/38">Venetian at $259 and the Wynn at $253. Two City Center hotels are even cheaper, with Aria at $189, and the Mandarin Oriental at $225. Somehow, Vdara is asking $249, which we wouldn't call a deal. The Cosmopolitan, we're sorry to say, is sold out for Saturday.

The deals are better on Sunday night, which is normal for Vegas—but a bit surprising for a weekend leading into a Monday

Where to Stay If You Want to Celebrate Bastille Day

Now it's July 7, Independence Day is old news. The next big nationalist celebration—other than the party going down in whichever country wins the World Cup on Sunday—is Bastille Day. Since France is immersed in a political spending scandal, Sarkozy and co. may not be celebrating La Fête Nationale in grand fashion, but that doesn't mean hotels can't get their Bastille on.
Here are just some of the hotels getting all French next Wednesday.

It's almost doing a sad face.
They say everything’s sexier in Paris (or, at least, the folks at Paris Las Vegas like to say it is). So you’d expect their hotel sex kit to be a pretty snazzy affair, right?
Well, we’re feeling a bit let down. When we spied “Romance Kit” ($5) on the minibar list at the weekend, we thought it might be something frou frou, reminiscent of the days of the Moulin Rouge or something like that. But then we opened the fridge to find a box of condoms. Just a box of condoms. Sitting on the shelf on its lonesome, looking a bit sorry for itself. Are
