We've seen the model pics of the old-furniture-factory-turned-hotel, but this week an <a href="http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-tr-milwaukee6-2008jul06">LAT reporter</a> went and got a tour of an almost-finished room. Despite the place being half done, she seemed to like what she saw. She was particularly tickled about a 1907 sign from the Milwaukee Boiler Co which will grace the entrance to that sexy underground pool room (called The Boiler Room, natch). The hotel's Island Tower was shut down earlier this week after traces of E-Coli bacteria were found during a routine test.Fortunately, no guests have been reported to be ill. However, as a precaution the hotel moved 500 guests to other rooms and neighboring resorts. <a href="http://www.kxnt.com/Hotel-To-Reopen-After-Discovery-Of-E-Coli/2533275">KXNT TV News</a> reports:<blockquote> The Tropicana is the only Strip resort to use well water, which is mixed with municipal water supplies.... The Southern Nevada Health District is expected to conduct more tests of the water today, before giving the green light to reopen the tower. A huge fire has been growing for nearly two weeks, intensifying on Tuesday and forcing a complete evacuation of Big Sur.Posh retreats like the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Ventana+Inn+And+Spa/ian/193092">Ventana Inn</a> and the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Post+Ranch+Inn/local/531">Post Ranch Inn</a> have also been evacuated.So far, the Post Ranch Inn does not have an update on their website. Take a moment to lift your jaw from the floor. To clarify, it did not open. And it won't be officially opening until August 1st. But it did turn on its sign to kick off what is apparently a month-long series of summer opening events. The <a href="h">Courier-Post</a> says: <blockquote>The signage lighting of the luxury non-gaming boutique hotel on the boardwalk symbolizes what the Chelsea will bring to Atlantic City when it opens in August -- refinement, color and vivacity.
