Even in this economic downturn, hotel development in Scottsdale, AZ and neighboring Paradise Valley still seems like a hot item. In a development called "The Palmeraie" which is located on land in between both towns, two of <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Marriott%20Hotels">Marriott's</a> hotel brands the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Ritz-Carlton%20Hotels">Ritz-Carlton</a> and <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Edition%20Hotels">Edition</a> will come in with a big bang. The first hotel to be built on the property is the <a href="http://www.rcpvluxury.com/">Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley</a> which was originally supposed to commence construction last summer, but was held up due to a town referendum. Okay, we've found it, a cocktail bar that fits our wildest dreams: a place where the cocktail is the main course and everything else fits around it. The clever place with this idea is a new bar called edge (no capitals, thumbs down) at the luxury Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain in Arizona.

If you didn't know, Sanctuary is billed as more of a retreat than a hotel and it aims to offer amenities that cater to the "mind, body, spirit and senses" of its guests. But we guess the retreat must understand that even yogis need to let loose once in a while too.

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/paradise_valley.jpg">Perhaps humbled by the confused reactions to their plans for Westchester, <a href="http://www.ritzcarlton.com">Ritz-Carlton</a> is getting back to basics unveiling their plans for a resort in Paradise Valley in Arizona.Plans for the 225-room hotel near Scottsdale will be presented today at another hotel, the <a href="http://www.camelbackinn.com">Camelback Inn.</a> (This hotel is also owned by Marriott and made famous by Britney Spears who hung out here for a while last year.) So far the only thing proposed for the hotel is the amount of rooms and that it will only be one-story. But we are guessing it will have the usual Ritz amenities with some added pools to cool down in heat.This will be the second Ritz for Arizona. The first one
