Maybe someday, but right now, we think a little more finesse is in order to play with California's big guns. Nevertheless, we heart wine and want to stay in the loop of whats new (without having to commit to buying a whole bottle without a little R&D) and find the best way to sip, swirl and swallow your way through any wine region is by spending some time in its tasting rooms. Timing-wise, we're on the heels of grape harvest and there's no better time to witness the action of what goes into picking and processing grapes

The view was definitely nice, but the 11th floor has a restaurant and can be noisy until midnight (that's if you happen to be in the room before midnight sick with the flu instead of partying it up downtown).  So perhaps you'll want to stay between the 6th to 9th floors if you go. The location is very convenient to either downtown La Jolla or to the university or shopping at UTC. The room we had, however, was very basic, and not very big. But for $129 in La Jolla, one can't ask for much. The restaurant also boasts a terrific view, and the food was

In a freak accident, one old lady hit three other elderly women in front of La Valencia Hotel in San Diego yesterday.

"Witnesses told us that the Mercedes driver became mad after she backed into a 2003 Ford Bronco, then put the car in drive, accelerated and hit the women," Sgt. Tom Carmody said.—The San Diego Union Tribune

One woman was hospitalized with two broken legs while the other two women's injuries were less serious.

La Valencia has been a treasured La Jolla icon since 1926.
