This retreat is one of the oldest Soto Zen training monasteries outside of Asia, but normal folks are allowed in from April 28 to Sept. 10. &#x3C;p&#x3E;Sitting on 160 acres, there are hiking trails galore but the main focus here is the morning and afternoon chanting and meditation, which is optional. &#x3C;p&#x3E;Lodging is sort of roughing it in cabins with shared bathrooms or dorm-style rooms and no electricity but meals are included in your stay.
