The Hyatt Snags the Highlands Inn in Carmel

Carmel's historic Highlands Inn has gone Hyatt. As part of the changeover, the newly christened Hyatt Carmel Highlands received an extensive makeover.

Overlooking the Big Sur coast, the 1917 Craftsman-style hotel decked out its 48 rooms with a natural color scheme, flat-screen TVs, iHome iPod docking units, DVD and CD players and WiFi—though you'll have to cough up $9.99 per day to use the latter. Thirty-two of the rooms have oceanfront views.
