These sculptures were done by Lego's own Master Builders and each one requires THOUSANDS of Legos to build. Ahoy there, matey's! North America's first Legoland Hotel has just pegged its stateside opening for April 5 at the entrance to the Legoland theme park in Carlsbad, California.

Newly released images snapped by Reuters show the lobby of the world's third Lego hotel (there's one in the UK and Denmark) will be staffed by life-sized, Lego-built employees including bell hops and a dragon.

In happier Hilton hotel news today, a new resort opened over the weekend about thirty minutes north of San Diego. The property is called the Carlsbad Hilton Oceanfront Resort & Spa, and if that name sounds a little familiar, you're not entirely off.

Further up the beach, the 161-room Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach has been open since 2000—also offering free WiFi, as well as plenty of meeting space, multiple restaurants and gorgeous ocean-facing rooms.

But the price difference between the two properties is not as wide as we would have thought, so we had to wonder: which of these beachfront Hiltons is worth our dollars?
